The results of the Priority Ballot for NUS Wales Conference are in!
Following voting by Lead Reps, the following policies will be discussed at NUS Wales Conference in Aberystwyth on Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th March:
Reserved Policy Slots
As well as the two policies above, there is also one reserved slot for policy discussion at Wales Conference:
The policy on reform to NUS democracy and organising will be discussed because NUS National Conference 2023 passed a policy giving a mandate to explore such reforms. This includes discussion of the future of NUS Wales as well as a proposal to change our name to NUS Cymru, submitted by Undeb Bangor.
Next Steps
The three policies listed above will each have a dedicated workshop space at Conference, where they will be discussed further and shaped into final policies.
The following policies were not prioritised in the Priority Ballot and will be sent to the NUS Wales President to consider how NUS Wales can take the work forward:
- Opposing Apprenticeship Cuts
- Council Tax Exemption for all students in Wales
- All Students Should Be Able to Self-Identify for Intramural Sport
