About Deio...

Deio Owen, 21, is from Pwllheli, North Wales and was SU President at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai College where he studied his A levels.

He attended Cardiff University studying Welsh and Politics BA (2023). While studying at Cardiff, he was a part-time Welsh Language officer before becoming the first full-time elected Welsh Language officer of Cardiff Students’ Union. Deio was a trustee of the Union’s board of Trustees and a member of the University Council. He completed all his studies up to university in Welsh and a majority of his university studies were in Welsh.

Before moving to Cardiff, he was an avid member of his Young Farmers Club and is currently a trustee of Urdd Gobaith Cymru. He is an experienced Welsh language campaigner and is very passionate about housing, mental health, the cost-of-living crisis and sector viability. Deio is currently the President of The National Union of Students in Wales.

Aeth i Brifysgol Caerdydd i astudio BA Cymraeg a Gwleidyddiaeth (2023). Tra’n astudio yng Nghaerdydd, roedd yn Swyddog y Gymraeg rhan amser cyn cael ei ethol fel Is-Lywydd y Gymraeg cyntaf Undeb Myfyrwyr Caerdydd. Yno, roedd Deio yn ymddiriedolwr ar fwrdd yr Undeb ac yn aelod o Gyngor y Brifysgol. Cwblhaodd ei holl astudiaethau hyd at y Brifysgol drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg a’r rhan fwyaf o’i astudiaethau yno yn Gymraeg.

Cyn symud i Gaerdydd, roedd yn aelod brŵd o’i Glwb Ffermwyr Ifanc lleol ac mae hefyd yn ymddiriedolwr ar fwrdd Urdd Gobaith Cymru. Mae’n ymgyrchydd iaith brwd ac yn angerddol am gartrefi, iechyd meddwl, crisis y costau byw ac hyfywedd y sector. Deio bellach yw Llywydd Undeb Cenedlaethol y Myfyrwyr yng Nghymru.
